Beavertown to host sour festival this month

Sour Solstice takes place on Sunday 25th June at Beavertown in London and will feature breweries including Burning Sky, Gueuzerie Tilquin, Chorlton, Cloudwater, Wild Beer Co and Oud Beersel.

Beavertown will also use the event to launch the latest beer from its Tempus Project, Aquavitxa, a barrel-aged wild ale.

Other brewery’s beer at the event includes Loverbeer, Redchurch, Brekeriet, Lindheim and Tommie Sjef, with a total of 30 lines on offer.

Sam Millard, brand and communication manager at Beavertown, explained: “Sour beer has become a real movement in the UK gathering pace over the last couple of years and with more and more breweries now dedicating time to the dark arts of a barrel aging programme we are seeing more wild, sour, funky brews on the taps all the time.

“It’s another example of how the independent craft brewing scene isn’t constrained by anything, and the exploration of styles and the quest for new, exciting flavours is at the forefront of what so many of us do.

“To do it right takes dedication and re-education as tinkering around with microbes and wild yeast strains is a totally different ball game to “clean” brewing. It’s a real testament to the skill of so many craft breweries here in the UK and abroad that are doing both and producing amazing results.”

Taking place from 12-6pm, tickets include all beer for the day, which will be served in 1/3 measures. For more information, click here.
