London’s craft beer shops and breweries collaborate

The initiative, which forms part of London Beer City, has been organised by Hop Burns & Black.

Each shop will sell the beer they collaborated on in their own outlets with the nine brews going head to head at a public final to be held at Mother Kelly’s in Bethnal Green on Thursday 10 August.

A panel of judges will select a winner and the public will also be invited to cast their votes for a People’s Choice award.

Jen Ferguson from Hop Burns & Black and the event’s founder, said: “London Beer City is a celebration of fantastic beer in London, so we thought we’d give our fellow beer shops the opportunity to brew a fantastic London beer of their own.

“Selling beer in London can be very competitive, but it’s also a lot of fun. This competition – which we plan to make an annual event – offers beer shops the chance to indulge in some friendly rivalry, with delicious results.

“We’ve been delighted at the response. Get ready for some awesomely creative collaborations, which beer lovers will get to taste and judge at the final event at Mother Kelly’s as well as all over London in the capital’s best beer shops.”

Participating shops and breweries include:

Beer Boutique and Brixton Brewery

Caps & Taps and Orbit Beers

Clapton Craft and Affinity Brew

Hop Burns & Black and Brew By Numbers

Kill The Cat and a ‘tiny brewers’ trio’ – Earth Ale, Solvay Society and Boxcar Brewery

Microbeers and Twickenham Fine Ales
