The Brewers Journal is delighted to have appointed Tim O’Rourke as technical editor.
O’Rourke is a Master Brewer with over 45 years’ experience in both multinational and craft breweries.
He has been involved in the international brewing industry in a wide range of capacities; his expertise covers production, innovation and business development, marketing and promotion.
Commenting on his appointment, O’Rourke said: “I am honoured and delighted to join the team at the Brewers Journal as technical editor.
“As well as writing a regular article in the series Back to Basics II which is aimed at providing scientific knowledge for Brewing Students,
“I am also committed to deal with current “ hot topics” with a regular column “Talking Points”. In this edition I have covered Climate Change and Global Warming, there is no hotter topic than that!”
Before joining the Brewers Journal he was technical editor for the Grist International and the Brewers Guardian having published over 200 technical articles, a number of which are available online at www.brilliantbeer.com.
For the past 25 years he has run The Brilliant Beer Company, a Training & Brewing Consultancy, providing technical support and training for breweries all over the world, particularly supporting Institute of Brewing candidates preparing for exams at introductory, foundation, certificate and diploma levels.
O’ Rourke was one of the four founders of the Beer Academy and wrote much of the original content presenting many of the courses. He is a beer sommelier and Certified Cicerone and give talks on beer styles, beer and food pairing and tutored tasting. He is also an international beer judge.
