The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has dramatically announced that it is not holding the country’s largest beer festival next year, due to venue issues, with next year’s prestigious Champion Beer of Britain title also under review.

The organisation went on to highlight that ongoing building works as a major impediment to the event and that, whilst other venues were explored, it proved impossible to secure an alternative location.

CAMRA chief executive Tom Stainer said: “We will also be looking at options to celebrate the best of British beer at many of our other great beer festivals up and down the country.”

Commenting, CAMRA events director Catherine Tonry added: “It has been a difficult decision to make as it is the highlight of our calendar.”

Also in question is next year’s prestigious Champion Beer of Britain title, which has traditionally been announced at the event in early August, with the organisation saying it is currently under review.
