In 2019, Simon quit his job as an aquatic biology professor at the University of Plymouth to set up Ivybridge Brewing Company (IBC). His vision was to create a brewery that provided training and employment for adults with learning disabilities and autism, and to raise awareness of the contribution that these marginalised groups can make to the world of work.
Seven years on, IBC supports ten trainees, who brew, package and sell their award winning beers. They have also become an important part of the Ivybridge community and are now looking to expand their reach and the number of people they support.
