Sierra Nevada, the respected US brewery, has launched a new beer line that taps into consumer demand for both flavour and moderation.
Its new beer soda line, Shred, is described as a beer with super refreshing soda-like carbonation and a bright hit of sweet-citrus flavour.
They explained: “Shred is a beer, full stop. Though it is inspired by the classic Radler, we don’t add any soda or juice to the brew. Instead, Shred’s uniquely refreshing soda-like drinking experience comes from its special yeast. Science!
“Thanks to some serious brewhouse tinkering by our Innovation team, we found that when this yeast combines with the right sugar, we can create a beer that pops with soda-like carbonation and a brighter, sweeter flavour than traditional beer. Add a dash of citrus and boom—you’ve got Shred.”
The new range of drinks is the latest line of innovation from the US brewery that is traditionally known for its Pale Ale as well as Torpedo IPA, Bigfoot and ‘Little Thing’ line of hop-forward beers.
And while the new range has soda in the title the brewery has stressed these drinks do not feature soda in the composition.
They added: “The name comes from the soda-like drinking experience that’s quite different from a traditional beer. Like most beers, Shred contains just water, malt, hops, and yeast, plus a dash of citrus.
“However, that special yeast is no ordinary strain. One sip and you’ll immediately notice the different flavour and drinking experience. We won’t blame you if you’re tempted to pour it over ice.”
