Central Illinois-based Destihl Brewery has unveiled a new light lager designed to tap into “a broader cultural desire” for waht the brewery describes as a normal beer.

The new release, which is brewed with 100% barley malt with no adjuncts such as rice or corn, is a latest in a line of light lagers that remain in strong growth across North America

According to the company, Normal Beer is a deliberate departure from the craft segment Destihl has built its reputation on.

Where Destihl Brewery is known for bold, boundary-pushing flavours like its award-winning DeadHead IPA Series and Wild Sour Series, Normal Beer leans into a clean, easy-drinking, lower ABV and lower price point lager designed for normal, everyday occasions and excursions, they said.

Matt Potts, the Founder and CEO of Destihl Holdings, explained: “Somewhere along the way, beer and other beverages got complicated — tasting notes, stars and everybody telling you what you should be drinking.

“We don’t think it has to be that way. Normal Beer is a crisp, clean lager brewed with all malt and no shortcuts, made for the normal things people actually do — cookouts, fishing, hiking & ski trips, fire pits, tailgates, golfing, concerts, yard work and every cooler worth opening. It’s a perfectly normal beer, and we think that’s exactly what a lot of drinkers are looking for right now.”
