Castle Rock will return brewing to a site in Nottingham after the business secured its new home.
The company was forced to look for new premises with the lease on its much-loved Nottingham city-centre brewery site set to run out in March of 2027.
The business has now announced that it has secured planning permission to relocate to a site rich in brewing history, the former home of Murphy & Son in Old Basford.
This building was originally constructed in 1891 for the Prince of Wales Brewery and was a working brewery up until the early 20th century.
“We are so excited to not only continue our journey as a brewery at this historic site, but also to return the site to its original purpose over a century later,” they said in a statement.
Castle Rock beers are currently brewed in Nottingham on our 65HL brewery, with a 160L pilot brewing kit for trials and experiments.
They source our malts and hops from a selection of trusted, quality suppliers, and many Castle Rock beers are fermented with our meticulously managed in-house wet yeast culture, which gives our beers their distinct edge.
In a statement the company added: “We always saw the change as an opportunity to find the right next home for Castle Rock, even though there wasn’t much more we could say at the time.
“Almost two years later, we’re delighted to share we’ve found our new home. And we’re well underway with making real, exciting plans for Castle Rock’s next chapter.
“We remain optimistic about retaining the Old Cold Store and back garden, and for now, both spaces are secured under the current lease until March 2027. Of course, we’ll share more details as our plans take shape.
“This exciting news has come just before we begin to embark upon our 50th year as a pub group and 30th year as a brewery, and we are busy preparing to make 2027 Castle Rock’s best year yet!”
