Heineken unveils the “future of beer”

Heineken has unveiled a new proposition that pairs draught beer technology and AI expertise to allow consumers to pick from a combination of “tastes, moods, and occasions” to create more than 100 tailored beers.

Personalised Draught is part of the brewer’s Heineken Studio business and is claimed to blend “tech and taste to give drinkers a first look at the future of beer”.

Its system, which pours from a single tap, allows drinkers to choose from 135 different Heineken expressions.

These are determined by a combination of traditional brewing characteristics that include strength, intensity, with options ranging from 0.0% to 5% ABV.

The consumer can influence the choice with options such as their favourite films and personality traits, to the weather and the energy of the group.

The AI technology then draws on a wide range of these personal preferences to create a beer that is tailored to the person drinking it, the company said.

A consumer scans the QR code, customises their taste preferences on your phone, and then the draught blends the beverage using its integrated barrels. Once poured, a personalised label is printed, detailing the unique creation and making every brew “truly one of a kind”.

Willem van Waesberghe, master brewer at Heineken, said: “Personalised Draught demonstrates what’s possible when brewing heritage meets modern technology.

“Every beer starts with the same commitment to quality that has defined Heineken for over 150 years, but this gives our consumers a completely new way to play with taste profiles that simply wasn’t possible before. It shows how innovation can help more people discover new experiences in beer.”
