London-based Orbit Beers is marking the imminent festive season with the return of its seasonal Jolly Saint Nico release.
The beer is a spiced take on their award-winning Köln Lager, Nico. Brewed for Christmas, and Christmas only, this returning festive favourite in Orbit Beers’ ever-evolving White Label Series range brings together the crisp refreshment of a Kölsch-style beer with “warming notes of nutmeg, clove, and allspice”.
Orbit’s flagship Nico is inspired by Cologne’s classic Kölsch style, a hybrid between lager and ale, and named in tribute to musician Christa Päffgen, known as Nico.
Jolly Saint Nico builds on that tradition, adding festive spice to the delicately balanced malt and hop profile of Nico Lager.
The beer pours pale golden with a fragrant, herbal hop aroma. It has notes of citrus, cloves, and seasonal spices. It’s light on the palate, with a touch of bready maltiness, an assertive hop character, and warming flavours of nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.
The soft carbonation and dry, crisp finish make it the perfect beer to pair with Christmas dinner. The subtle spices also add a moreish, festive flavour to accompany cheese boards and mince pies over the festive season.
Jolly Saint Nico and Nico are available in 330ml bottles from Orbit Beers’ online shop, their taproom, and various independent & online bottle shops.
It can also be found on draught in various pubs, bars, and restaurants supplied directly or via wholesale, and at the Orbit Beers Taproom, SE17 3HD.
