Buxton Brewery acquires Macclesfield’s Treacle Tap, plans wider expansion

Buxton Brewery has signed a lease to breathe life back in to the iconic Treacle Tap in Macclesfield Town Centre which closed in August 2022.

The site will undergo a sympathetic facelift in order to showcase the very best of Buxton beers pouring on 8 keg lines and 3 cask lines and accompanied with locally sourced pub snacks and light meals.

The Treacle Tap will become part of Axe Edge Bars Ltd which also includes the Buxton Tap House and Cellar in central Buxton, as well as their retail venue in the Pavilion Gardens in the town and the Taproom at the brewery.

Geoff Quinn, CEO, commented: ‘We have decided that 2024 is going to be a big year for Buxton Brewery and we are actively looking at acquiring strategic venues to help grow the Buxton brand locally whilst exploring opportunities to distribute our beers Nationally through the On Trade and Off Trade”

The Treacle Tap intends to open its doors in late November and is actively seeking staff, full time and part time.
