Cloudwater supports teachers, hospitality workers and students with discount

Cloudwater Brew Co is offering a 25 per cent discount on all of its beer to teachers in pre-school, primary and secondary education, hospitality workers, university staff and university students until the end of November.

This is as well as the equivalent discount already provided to NHS staff that was introduced in March and will run until the end of the year. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cloudwater has given away £124,062 in discounts to NHS staff and key workers as well as funding hundreds of food care packages provided to NHS staff through Eat Well MCR.

Cloudwater has also given many fellow breweries from Manchester and further afield the chance to sell stock via its webshop as a way of helping them to generate vital income.

Runaway, Squawk, Mobberley, Pictish, Donzoko, Duration, Boundary and Wild Horse have all been given the opportunity to list their products free-of-charge and to take home a larger portion of revenue than they would by selling beer through usual wholesale routes.

So far, this has brought in almost £184,875 in extra sales for these businesses. This is already making a huge difference to their long-term prospects, as the beer industry faces an uncertain future.

Cloudwater Brew Co MD Paul Jones said: “It is my firm belief that in times of crisis we are all duty bound to play our part, and to do what we can to not just to serve our own needs and offer up not just our usual products and services, but to offer our time, resources, and energy to the greater good.

“We also felt it was important to show gratitude to those people who are facing serious challenges and personal risks. Several of our team have family members in the NHS, so we know intimately that NHS staff have endured a tough year and we’ll be forever grateful for the efforts of frontline medical staff, putting themselves at risk to tackle this pandemic and treat those who have suffered from COVID-19.

“Teachers too are doing their very best to educate and safeguard the wellbeing of the country’s children in testing circumstances, and it is a similar situation for university staff and students, who are undoubtedly feeling worried, stressed and perhaps quite lonely right now.

“We also wanted to show solidarity with hospitality, as this is understandably a sector that’s very close to our hearts and its workers will be among the hardest hit by the new lockdown.”
