CO2 capture business announces expansion

W Platform, a company specialising in fermentative CO2 capture and reuse systems for craft breweries, has announced its latest geographical expansion.

Founded by Jean-Philippe Ricard and Matthieu Planté, CO2 Brasserie draws on more than 15 years of expertise in fermentation gas recovery, starting in the wine sector in Bordeaux in France.

Now, with its arrival in Australia and the partnership with the local distributor Grapeworks the company is actively seeking partnerships with local breweries organizations to support the region’s transition to greener brewing.

The French business has expanded into the Australian and Oceanian markets with its CO2 Brasserie solution. With the brewing industry increasingly looking to reduce its environmental impact, CO2 Brasserie offers a practical, scalable, and eco-responsible solution to recover and reuse fermentative CO2, the company said.

They said in a statement: “Historically, CO2 recovery systems have been too complex or expensive for small and mid-sized breweries. CO2 Brasserie changes the game by offering compact, plug-and-play solutions adapted to breweries producing between 100 000 L and several million litres per year.

“These systems allow brewers to capture fermentation CO2 and reuse it in various stages of beer production, minimizing waste and dependence on fossil-based industrial CO2.”

CO2 Brasserie’s systems are based on a three-step modular process: Capture and compression: The CO2 released during fermentation is captured, purified, and compressed using the CO2 BOX or Micro CO2 BOX—technologies developed in-house for energy efficiency and food-grade safety.

Safe storage: Compressed CO2 is stored in compact, high-pressure tanks (from 300 to 1,000 liters), ensuring availability for reuse at any time.

On-site reuse: The stored CO2 can then be used for purging tanks, beer carbonation, or packaging—saving money and reducing emissions.
