Corona cases affecting Chinese beer sales

Beer sales are dropping in China as restaurants, bars, and nightclubs shut down over fears of the coronavirus.

According to Fortune, Danish brewer Carlsberg said a segment of its China beer sales has been “significantly impacted” by the outbreak.

Reuters has reported that AB Inbev has suspended production at its Wuhan brewery.

The various company shutdowns is affecting many operations in China – besides beer, according to Reuters. Starbucks has shut down half of its 4,000+ cafes in China, McDonald’s has shut all stores in Hubei, Pizza Hut is closing restaurants, and even IKEA has closed all of its 30 Chinese stores as a health precaution.

It should be noted that Corona beer has nothing to do with the coronavirus; the name is just an unfortunate coincidence.
