Crowdfunding hit

Scotland’s first alcohol-free brewing company has just released its first small-batch beer which was supported by RBS BackHerBusiness and a crowdfunding campaign which raised £15,000 in six days.

Owner and keen sailor Sonja Mitchell opened Jump Ship Brewing after “jumping ship” from her marketing job to launch the brewery.

“We brew our beers in small batches to be naturally low in alcohol, no more than 0.5% ABV.  By carefully managing each stage of the process, we’re able to keep more flavour in. We use the finest malted grains, hops, yeast and soft Scottish water to create world-class beer,” says Mitchell.

“Yardarm lager is our first release and the flagship of our flotilla. It’s a crisp, refreshing lager, brewed with Citra and Styrian Bobek hops for the full-flavoured finish you might expect from a well-balanced IPA.

“Zesty, biscuity and discretely bitter, it’s exceedingly drinkable. It’s also vegan and gluten-free, so even more people can enjoy a great beer,” she says.
