Elland Brewery to close

West Yorkshire-based Elland Brewery is set to close.

Ellland Brewery, which was founded in 20023 is due to be liquidated after a meeting of creditors was organised for later this week (16th February).

According to an online filing, a virtual meeting will be held via Zoom, on 16 February 2024 at 11.15 am. The statement add that a “meeting of shareholders has been called and will be held prior to the virtual meeting of creditors, to consider passing a resolution for voluntary winding up of the Company”.

It added: “Any creditor entitled to attend and vote at this virtual meeting is entitled to do so either in person or by proxy. Creditors wishing to vote at the virtual meeting must (unless they are individual creditors attending in person) lodge their proxy with the convener before they may be used at the meeting. The convener can be contacted care of Simon Weir, DSi Business Recovery, 2 Lakeside, Calder Island Way, Wakefield, WF2 7AW.”

The brewery, as the team explain on their website, was founded as ‘Eastwood and Sanders Fine Ales’ in 2002, after the amalgamation of The West Yorkshire Brewery and The Barge and Barrel Brewing Company. It was renamed as Elland Brewery in 2006 and was trading under that banner ever since.

It is perhaps best known for its multi-award winning 1872 Porter which has been a mainstay at hundreds of beer festivals all over the country.
