New partnership brings Rapid Microorganism Detection platform to market

Figura and and Murphy & Son have announced a strategic partnership to bring the former’s ‘Rapid Microorganism Detection’ platform to market.

Figura, which is a pioneer in rapid microbial detection, has entered into a strategic agreement with Murphy & Son to scale their innovative technology across the global drinks industry.

The partnership centres on a dedicated development program based at Murphy & Son’s technical facilities. This initiative will focus on translating traditional, time-intensive microbiology culture results into Figura’s rapid, digital data sets.

By comparing Figura’s sensing technology methods, against industry standards, the two companies will provide brewers and beverage producers with the confidence to transition to near real-time quality monitoring.

As part of the agreement, Murphy & Son, a leader in beverage supplies and technical services since 1887, will become an official distributor for Figura’s Analyser and Portable Analyser instruments, supporting customers both in the UK and international markets.

“This collaboration is a game-changer for Figura as we scale our operations into the wider beverage sector,” said Nick Whitehurst, CEO of Figura.

“Our goal is to empower producers with the speed and precision they need to protect their brand reputation and to optimise production.”

CTO at Figura, Mark Platt, said: “By embedding our technology within Murphy & Son’s world-class laboratory environment, we are bridging the gap between traditional science and the future of digital microbiology.

“Having dedicated resource at Murhpy’s fast tracks our capability to understand how different microorganisms affect the complex matrix of different product categories”.

The partnership leverages Murphy & Son’s deep-rooted reputation for technical excellence to provide a robust distribution network for Figura’s hardware.

“At Murphy & Son, we pride ourselves on bringing the most effective technical solutions to our global customer base,” said Brandon Critchell, commercial director at Murphy & Son.

“Figura’s analytical technology represents a significant leap forward in rapid testing. By offering these analysers alongside our existing portfolio, we are helping our clients reduce the ‘time-to-result,’ allowing for faster decision-making and improved operational efficiency across the supply chain.”

The comparison work is expected to begin immediately, focusing on key spoilage organisms common in brewing and soft drink manufacturing.
