Shepherd Neame unveils Spooks Ale with pumpkin

Kent brewery Shepherd Neame has revived its annual ‘Spooks Ale’, which now features spiced pumpkin.

The 4.7% beer, which will be available on cask throughout October, is a dark rub ale and features Pale, Crystal, Brown and Chocolate malts.

Bitterness in the beer is provided by Target hops while Styrian Goldings offer the citrus aroma.

Head brewer Richard Frost explained: “The aim of our No.18 Yard Brewhouse collection is to offer beers with unique flavours and character in a variety of styles, created using traditional brewing methods.

“We think that the addition of spiced fresh pumpkin gives a delicious new twist to Spooks Ale. It is the perfect brew to bridge the gap between the golden ales of summer and dark winter beers.”
