“Strong foundations” but room for growth, says Heineken CEO

Growth across Heineken, Amstel, Birra Moretti, Tiger and Desperados contributed to an increase in net revenues at Heineken to 4.6% to 8.1 billion euros (£6.8 billion) over the latest quarter but the company’s new CEO says he wants more from the business.

The business, which also reported double-digit growth from its low and no-alcohol brands, such as Heineken 0.0, saw its premium volumes grow 11.5%, significantly ahead of the total portfolio.

And Rafa Oliveira, the company’s new CEO, said that the results are encouraging but there is room for improvement also.

He said: “We delivered good volume growth of 5%, with positive contributions from all regions, and strong delivery from our global brands and priority segments in particular. This gives us confidence to confirm our full-year outlook.

“Joining Heineken at a time when our teams are delivering solid results while remaining focused on implementing our strategy is a real privilege. My first impressions are positive, particularly the strength of our brands, the commitment of our people, and the growth potential across our geographic footprint.

“We have strong foundations, but we are not translating them into consistent growth and winning with consumers and customers as often as we should. There is more to do to sharpen execution, increase pace, and build a stronger performance culture, with greater accountability across the business.

“These first weeks have been about listening, learning, and understanding. I look forward to sharing more of my perspective when we report our full-year results.”

Looking ahead the company’s outlook assumed a “broadly unchanged consumer environment” across most of its markets and said it was accelerating disciplined execution of its strategy and continue to invest in sustainable growth, funded by productivity.

“Reflecting our strong performance to date, we remain confident in delivering our 2026 guidance of 2% to 6% operating profit growth,” they said in a statement.
