Theakston launch cask ale to be served extra chilled

T&R Theakston has announced the launch of Theakston Summit, a new cask conditioned Pale Ale that has been especially brewed to be served extra chilled.

The 4.2% ABV ale will form part of the brewery’s core range and is now available to pubs and bars across the UK.

Theakston Summit is already on the bar in pubs across North Yorkshire, with more stockists expected over the coming months.

A refreshing ale perfect for warmer summer days, Theakston Summit is brewed with Summit, El Dorado, Cascade and Amarillo hops and is served at 6-8°C through a dedicated hand pump.

The latest launch follows Theakston’s decision to extend its offering across both its on- and off-trade sales, which included introducing its famous Best Bitter and Old Peculier ales in can form for supermarket customers.

Simon Theakston, joint managing director at T&R Theakston, said: “Customer feedback told us that there was demand for a refreshing ale served at a lower temperature, so with summer finally here, we’ve created Theakston Summit, the perfect beer for warm weather drinking.

“We pride ourselves on brewing beers of quality and distinction, so worked with several pubs in Yorkshire to trial Summit in 2019, the reception so far has been great, with customers loving the option of a colder-temperature ale.”

He added: “Theakston Summit allows pubs and bars to give their customers greater choice, presenting a drink that combines the best of cask ale with all the refreshment of a lower temperature of dispense.

“Brewed with New World hops to meet a growing demand for a more refreshing, hop-forward beer, this launch forms part of our ongoing strategy to challenge ourselves and give our customers more choice, while also continuing to create high-quality ales that reflect our almost 200-years of brewing expertise.

“As lockdown restrictions gradually ease, there is a growing sense of optimism across the UK, so there is no better opportunity to introduce a new beer which would encourage people to get back out and about, support their local pub and begin making memories again.”
