Newcastle-based Wylam Brewery is merging with North East leisure company Vaulkhard Leisure.

The acquiring group runs a wealth of pubs and bars in the North East such as The Bridge Tavern and The Town Hall.

“We have worked alongside VL here in the North East for many years and share their pride in our region. The merger will see our core range scaled out across the estate bringing super fresh beers to a plethora of new taps. This represents an exciting new chapter in our journey. More info to follow in the coming days.”

According to the Vaulkhard Group: They are “a ‘family business’, the family being our dedicated team who ably assist in the advancement of the company whilst maintaining and improving our service, standards and overall offering. Our strength is our people – we promote internally for continuity and growth.

“Our team is passionate and experienced, delivering the first class customer service experience Vaulkhard Group is known for.”

Wylam Brewery was founded in 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton. Based out of South Houghton Farm, Heddon on the Wall, Leighton’s beers such as Gold Tankard and Landlord’s Choice resonated with local drinkers.
