BrewDog launches 22% Hop Shot

BrewDog has added Hop Shot, a 22% West Coast IPA , to its family of beers.

The beer is brewed with Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe, Citra and Amarillo and is available in a 110ml bottle.

The brewery explained: “Hops weren’t meant to be subtle. When the very best of them bring such incendiary flavours the only true reaction as brewers is to pin back the ears and go for it.

“At BrewDog, we have experimented with ice-distillation before; all of those moments spent perfecting and honing the science and the art have resulted in a brand new armour-piercing salvo in liquid form.

“A fusillade of five of the finest high alpha sluggers America has given to the world – Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe, Citra and Amarillo – Hop Shot then becomes the focus of liquid alchemy.”

According to BrewDog, the beer features sweet toffee from the malt and a “huge lick of citrus” with grapefruit, sticky orange, sharp yuzu and resin.

“The flavour amplifies all of these, and keeps on going. A blistering bitterness is the fall-out; compound layers of fruit and pine cloaked in a mouth-coating fullness. The overall effect is a warming hop hit – a thunderous assault to the senses,” they added.
