Exale Brewing unveil new venue

The team behind Walthamstow’s Exale Brewery and Bethnal Green’s Three Colts have announced their latest venture: William the Fourth, a pub steeped in history dating back to 1897.

The William the Fourth is entering a new era under the stewardship of longtime local residents Andy and Steph Solley.

Passionate about community and the pub’s rich history, they aim to blend tradition with a progressive, welcoming touch. Their vision revitalizes the space as a vibrant gathering place, honoring its legacy while giving it a fresh lease of life!

“This isn’t just about reopening a pub” says Solley, “it’s about breathing new life into a cherished part of our community. We’re restoring a local icon, honouring its rich history while creating a vibrant, welcoming space for everyone to enjoy, whether a quiet pint or a big night out ”

Fueled by their passion for independent beer, the duo will be pouring their award-winning brews alongside a rotating lineup of guest taps, expertly curated wines from Les Caves de Pyrene, and a seasonal cocktail menu crafted to keep things fresh and exciting.

In addition, a dedicated events space will be available for private bookings, pop-ups, and community gatherings, offering a flexible backdrop for everything from celebrations to creative collaborations.

The re-launch of the William will add new energy to the area’s already vibrant and expanding food and drink scene. In the kitchen, Leytonstone born Short Road Pizza returns to its roots. Led by second-generation Italian chef Ugo, the kitchen will serve up crispy, bold pizzas blending Romana thin crust technique with American soul — perfectly in tune with the stellar drinks list and high-energy atmosphere.

William the Fourth is currently closed for several weeks while undergoing a full refurbishment. The venue is expected to reopen mid-June 2025, with an official opening date to be announced soon.
