Abbeydale Brewery announce taproom opening

Sheffield based Abbeydale Brewery, the UK’s first 100% employee owned brewery, has announced the opening date for Abbeydale Beerworks, their new taproom based on Abbeydale Road, just a stone’s throw from the brewery itself.

The taproom is due to open to the public on Thursday 7th May from 4pm, and be open six days per week.

Abbeydale Beerworks will act as a showcase venue for Abbeydale’s latest brews and small batch specials, with an extensive cellar refit allowing 8 keg lines and 4 casks.

The brewery team also plan to host exclusive tastings in the space, as well as community focused events such as a running club, opportunity to host local craft classes, and a “forage to funk” scheme aimed at making use of surplus and foraged produce in the brewery’s mixed fermentation project.

This news comes as the brewery are celebrating their 30th anniversary year.

Co-managing director Dan Baxter says of the opening “it feels like our own taproom has been a long time coming, and we’re incredibly excited to finally be able to share it with our community – it feels like a pivotal moment for our team.

“We can’t wait to play a new part in the neighbourhood that already means so much to us and that we’ve called home for thirty years.”
