Joseph Holt brewery-owned The White Swan has just opened a purpose built £800 000 function suite, with demand already rocketing for what is now one of the largest event spaces in the area.
The pub was one of the first pubs to be bought by the fledging business back in 1868.
With capacity for up to 150 seated guests, the new function suite offers five times the space of the pub’s previous function area, making it an ideal choice for larger gatherings.
Given that many Joseph Holt pubs stand at the heart of local communities, it`s hoped that the new function suite will provide a much-needed venue for both special occasions and community gatherings and interest groups .
The new function suite has been designed and built in a way to blend seamlessly with the existing venue, creating a modern and versatile space for celebrations, meetings, and special occasions.
Situated on the ground floor also provides also makes it easier for disabled guests or parents with prams and buggies – a key advantage over many other local function venues, which are often located upstairs.
The White Swan is one of 127 venues owned by Manchester-based Joseph Holt brewery, a family-run business with a proud heritage spanning 177 years. The pub itself is steeped in history having been standing on the same site for 200 years.
And already, says landlady Lyndsey Smethills, the White Swan has been inundated with bookings for what is known as the Joseph Holt function suite
She said: “So many venues have closed in the area including many local social clubs, and there has been a need for somewhere to hold special events and community groups. Ever since we opened the phone hasn`t stopped ringing.
Not just because the function suite is a beautiful new space, but because it sits at the very heart of the community. There’s a genuine warmth here that has always been the foundation of everything we do.”
When it comes to weddings, couples are often searching for a venue with personality, atmosphere and a real sense of heart. With Lyndsey and her dedicated team on hand, that is exactly what they can expect – a beautiful, welcoming setting where every celebration feels personal and where guests can experience the true spirit of the White Swan.”
