Fuller’s Pub Company has teamed up with independent brewer Jiddler’s Tipple to produce London Tipple, a new 4.1% West Coast IPA on cask.
The new 4.1% West Coast IPA will receive its first pour across more than 70 Fuller’s pubs tomorrow (15 October) and takes inspiration from the “rich malt character of classic London cask beer and gives it a modern West Coast spin”.
Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo hops bring zesty grapefruit, pine and resinous notes, balanced by caramel malt flavours and a clean, refreshing bitterness, they said in a statement.
London Tipple is brewed to be both vegan, gluten free and is a collaboration that aims to reflect both companies’ commitment to cask beer and their ambition to introduce the format to a new generation of drinkers through modern, hop-forward styles.
Jacob Liddle, founder of Jiddler’s Tipple, said as one of Britain’s great traditions “it’s brilliant to see a new generation of drinkers” beginning to discover cask beer.
“We wanted to combine the heritage and malt character of London cask beer with everything we love about a modern West Coast IPA. London Tipple is full of grapefruit, pine and resinous hop character, with a crisp finish and a moreish bitterness. It’s refreshing, sessionable and packed with flavour,” he said.
James O’Connell, head of on-Trade at Jiddler’s Tipple, added: “We’ve seen that when pubs offer exciting, modern styles of cask beer, they connect with drinkers who might not previously have considered ordering a pint of real ale.
“Releasing beers like London Tipple on cask gives modern craft drinkers a fresh reason to explore the category. You can expect to see plenty more accessible, hop-forward cask beers from us in the future.”
