Nirvana launches crowdfunding campaign & hires new head brewer

No-and-low brewery Nirvana has launched its first-ever crowdfunding campaign and also hired a new head brewer, James Rabagliati.

The Seedrs crowdfunder, launching 1st February, follows the success of a private raise of £750,000.00 in 2023 and a 16% YOY increase in annual revenue, with a staggering 43% rise in December.

Nirvana, which has been based in East London since 2016, intends to use the additional funds to drive both retail and on-trade distribution, as well as increased marketing and D2C activity.

New Head Brewer James Rabagliati has a decade-long career in brewing – working for some of the UK’s fastest-growing breweries.

He joins from Brew by Numbers, following stints at Hammerton and Truman’s. James spent seven years at Truman’s, rising from Assistant Brewer to Head Brewer, in charge of a team of seven. At Brew by Numbers, he was responsible for four brewers, creating a variety of modern styles, from Sours and NEIPAs through to Pastry Stouts and Barrel Aged Blends.

Rabagliati said: “Every beer style requires a different approach, but in no and low, there’s very little room to ‘hide’! I’m seriously looking forward to exploring the massive potential in this category – especially given the leaps forward there’s been in hop processing of late.”

Becky Kean, founder and Brand Ambassador, said:  “2023 was something of a breakthrough year for us – not only did we complete our biggest-ever fund raising, but we secured significant on-trade distribution and strengthened our presence in retail.

“Across both channels we’ve demonstrated an exceptional high rate of returning customers, which only bodes well for the future. We’re delighted to have James on-board – as well as welcoming our new individual investors!”
