Belhaven, the oldest working brewery in Scotland, is marking October and Halloween with the return of a seasonal cask beer.
Haunted Highlander, which has a 3.4% ABV, is a ruby rye ale. It is described as a full-bodied ale brewed with the finest rye, delivering a rich flavour, making it “perfect for autumn nights”.
Haunted Highlander celebrates Belhaven’s proud brewing heritage, which spans more than 300 years, and is inspired by Scotland’s supernatural folklore and the atmospheric Highlands.
It also forms part of Greene King’s cask release calendar, a company Belhaven has been part of since 2005.
Fiona Matheson, marketing manager at Belhaven, said: “We’re delighted to bring back Haunted Highlander this Halloween following its successful launch in our pubs and beyond last year. As Halloween becomes more and more popular, it’s great to be able to offer our customers a spooky seasonal that’s perfect for a cosy evening in the pub, with a nod to Belhaven’s Scottish heritage.”
Established in 1719, Belhaven Brewery is the oldest working brewery in Scotland. Situated in Dunbar, the brewery is located amongst the rolling barley fields of East Lothian, just 20 miles from Edinburgh.
As the home of Scottish Brewing, they pride ourselves in producing the Nation’s No.1 Ale (Belhaven Best) and award-winning stout (Belhaven Black) and range of craft beers and ales, made using our fresh water source and unique Belhaven yeast.
