Tap Social collab with Stroud on organic launch

Tap Social Movement, the award-winning Oxford social enterprise, has teamed up with Stroud Brewery to launch a new organic beer.

Against the Grain will be released to mark Organic September, which is the Soil Association’s annual national campaign, shining a spotlight on the organic food, drink and products available in the UK, as well the benefits of organic for both the environment and people.

The beer is a 4.2% ABV Extra Hazy Pale Ale with a tropical taste and a hint of bitterness from added orange peel.

Tess Taylor, Tap Social’s co-founder, is delighted to have teamed up with Stroud Brewery: “We’re big fans of Stroud Brewery and are so stoked to have had the chance to work and collaborate with them on Against the Grain to celebrate Organic September.

“This is such a great opportunity for our two socially-minded breweries to come together and show how we’re playing a small part in helping to build stronger communities and a greener, more sustainable planet.

“It also adds a new layer to our beer offering for customers: on top of helping some of the most marginalised people in society, Against the Grain is also helping us care for wildlife.”

Tap Social has never offered an organic option in its range, so Stroud Brewery was more than happy to oblige, brewing ‘Against the Grain’ to add to both breweries’ collections as part of the national Organic September celebrations.

For Greg Pilley, founder and MD of Stroud Brewery, this collaboration is an exciting opportunity to spread the organic message to new audiences.

He added: “Organic farming and production is one of the most surefire ways for consumers to be sure that their money is truly making a positive impact upon re-building our wildlife populations and natural environment.”

“Research shows that farming without using chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides leads to at least a third more wildlife living on the farm compared to conventional farming methods.

“This also means there are fewer chemical residuals getting into the groundwater and left in the crops. Being a dedicated organic brewery has been extremely important to myself and the brewery since 2008, when we were officially certified as organic by the Soil Association.

“The Soil Association rigorously analyses every application for organic certification to ensure that the organic claims are accurate.

“When people see the Soil Association logo on a product, they can be confident that they really are buying something which helps wildlife and the environment.”
