Colbier Brew Co founders launch crowdfunder to open new venue

Colbier Brew Co’s founders have launched a new crowdfunding campaign to open their first venue, The Common Time, south of Liverpool city centre.

Based in the neighbourhood of Childwall, the micropub will have community at its heart, and aims to bring together people from all walks, not just fans of independent beers. Although the owners have said there will be plenty of those available too.

The Crowdfunder has a target of £15,000 to cover some of the costs of converting the former retail unit on Queens Drive, L15, into a “cosy micropub with a traditional, relaxed feel”.

The team are reaching out to the community in and around Childwall, as well as to supporters of their brand and of independent beer more widely, wanting to make them a part of the pub to come.

The team behind the crowdfunding campaign, Mike and Vik, launched the brewery in early 2024 and have since distributed their beers nationwide.

The brewery was notably acclaimed in 2025 as the UK’s Best New Independent Brewery by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA), and Colbier has collaborated with large and small breweries up and down the country, including Abbeydale Brewery (Sheffield), Vibrant Forest (Southampton), Barney’s Beer (Edinburgh) and Fell Brewery (Cumbria).

Vik Williams explained: “Pubs are the heart of our community, somewhere people can come together. That’s exactly what we want for this place.

“It’s not going to be just about Colbier beers; it’s going to be somewhere you can come and hang out with whoever… you don’t even need to be into beer, really. ”

According to the duo, the the establishment will be family-friendly by day and also have a range of quality wines, independent spirits, soft drinks and snacks, with a focus on supplying from small, independent companies just like Colbier Brewery itself.

The pub plans to collaborate with other small, creative, independent businesses in Liverpool, as the brewery has already done with the likes of Neighbourhood Coffee, Climbing Hangar and Wild Loaf.

In return for their support, The Common Time will be rewarding pledgers with more than the value of their pledge back in the form of credit to use in the pub or online shop, exclusive beers, tasting evenings and even the opportunity to brew a beer at Colbier Brewery. The campaign runs until midnight on 29th October 2026.
