Budweiser Budvar has expanded its range with the launch of its 0.0% lager in the UK market.
The beer arrives at a time where the company said interest in the brand is “at an all-time high” and also ahead of the festive season and Dry January.
The beer is made with the same ingredients, such as hole-cone Saaz hops from Žatec, the same techniques and maturation used to brew Budweiser Budvar Original Czech Lager.
The alcohol is removed using cold membrane filtration with reverse osmosis, which avoids thermal stress and off-flavours common to other dealcoholisation techniques. The result is a full-flavoured alcohol-free beer that tastes like the original.
Rich Sanna, who has recently announced as the new Budweiser Budvar UK Managing Director, said: “While we are by no means the first to market, we truly believe our beer is first for flavour and with interest in our brand at an all-time high, I’m confident the 0.0% will win over discerning beer lovers and abstainers alike across the UK.”
Budweiser Budvar UK appointed Rich Sanna as its new managing director earlier this month replacing Jitka Vlčková who departs the business in “the strongest position it has been in since first launching in the UK in 2005”.
Sanna joined Budweiser Budvar UK in 2019 and has been working closely with Jitka Vlčková, under whose six-year leadership the brand has seen a remarkable turnaround, the company said.
Since Vlčková’s stewardship began in 2020, Budweiser Budvar UK has tripled the number of on-trade taps and grown annual volume from 57,700hl to 93,835hl in 2025.
At the end of September 2026, volume was already 18% ahead of last year with the key festive trading season still to come.
