Talk title: Can Beer change destiny?
Can beer change lives? Probably. In 1883, the Carlsberg Research Laboratory discovered a way to isolate a pure yeast culture. A discovery that had a surprisingly big impact on the way we live our lives today. Can beer change your destiny too? Probably. It all comes from beer.

Zoran Gojkovic is the Director of Brewing Science, Yeast & Fermentation at Carlsberg Group. He grew up in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has a background in pharmaceuticals and biotech along with a PHD in molecular biology. Before working at Carlsberg, he founded gene therapy company ZGene, working on brain cancers. He has spent the last 15 years of his career with Carlsberg across various roles within the brewing function. He has been Director of Brewing Science, Yeast and Fermentation for the past eight years, driving innovation at the brand.  

On a day-to-day basis, he leads two high performance teams spanning both brewing and fermentation with no day looking the same as the last. During his time at Carlsberg, he has worked on a variety of projects including creating the world’s best super brewing yeast and the Tears of Enzo beer, served at Alchemist in Copenhagen.

Zoran’s speciality is innovation through fermentation, this involves experimenting with different techniques and flavours on a regular basis. Currently he is leading a project where they are attempting to create a beer using a Red Barley specially created in the Carlsberg Research Laboratory.
